Greetings to all,
I have just joined this forum and look forward to reading and posting here in the future. I have had a pair of Altec Lansing Model 19 loudspeakers for a little less than a year now and am enjoying getting to know them and playing them almost every day. Mine are walnut. The only thing I have done to them since I bought them is to replace the foam inserts around the horns. That smoothed out the treble response considerably.
Happy New Year to all!

Welcome George...I'm new here too.... though I've been gleaning info for some time. I've had my 19's for over 24 years and the foam deteriorated years ago! I think it's time for new foam....

Hi George,
I am also a fairly new member. As I'm sure you have seen if you have read some of the postings here, there are members here that have forgotten more than some of us will ever know about our Altecs.
There are some great threads on your 19's. I personally do not have these models but, I understand they are considered some of the best ever produced by Altec for home use. I have a pair of 846B Valencias. They are similar to your 19's except they are 2 way where you 19's are 3 way.
Please join in with questions as we all can learn from the discussion.
Welcome aboard...
Marvin

Warm welcome to the forum George. I too have 19's & just love them...they have some sort of quality of sound that is hard to beat, especially if you like your music to sound like it's like a live band!!
I've had my 19's for about 10 yrs now & don't think I would ever part with them. I have another top end speaker that is also highly regarded, but I always seem to come back to the 19's. Mine are stock & yes, my foam wasn't even with the speakers when I bought them. I suppose I should come up with some replacement foam to bring them back to how the engineers thought they should be listened to.
Sorry to nit pick Marvin, but the 19's are a 2 way system crosing over at 1200Hz.

Attachment 462Hi George, Welcome to the forum. I had my foams replaced also and I think it is worth it.I paid $45 + shipping for them.I got them from Paul & Debbie Darst who made them. They are exact replicas in shape. And did improve dampening for the horn.
Marvin I too was going to say that the 19's are 2 ways mine are 802-8G's & 416-8B's with N1201-8A crossovers.
I won't be selling mine ever !!!
HAPPY NEW YEAR !!!
